The four-day 2018 City Clubs Open Regatta (CCOR) came to an end in Qingdao in East China's Shandong province on Sept 9.

The event attracted 303 sailors in 61 teams from 10 countries including Britain, Denmark, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

This year's event involves nine categories – five keelboat sailing class contests and four radio-controlled sailing class contests. After fierce competition, the Xiamen team pocketed the first and second place in the J80 group in the keelboat sailing contest.

"The cooperative spirit in our team was the key to winning the contest," said Chen Hechi, the captain of the Xiamen Ocean Vocational and Technical College team, after the contest.

Themed around "Sailing connects us", this year's regatta aimed to tighten the ties between countries and promote mutual communication to spread and popularize sailing culture across the world.

Launched in 2010, the CCOR, hosted by the Chinese Yachting Association and Qingdao city, adheres to the principles of professionalism, justice and internationalism. After nine years' development, it has become more market-oriented and internationally recognized, integrating the sports industry with a unique urban culture.
