A large-scale photography exhibition featuring the ongoing Qingdao International Beer Festival and its host venue Qingdao West Coast New Area opened on July 28 in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province.

Jointly organized by the photography center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), the tourism development commission of Qingdao West Coast New Area and the organizing committee of the 28th Qingdao International Beer Festival, the event is designed to record the revels of the festival, showcase the unique beauty and charm of Qingdao West Coast New Area and raise the area's international profile. 

The opening ceremony gathered more than 200 guests including some of the country's heavyweight photographers such as Li Ge, Wang Wenlan and Liu Yu, as well as a group of shutterbugs and media representatives. 

Besides a photography saloon held on the opening day, a packed program of activities will also take place from August to September, including special photography tours to the Qingdao West Coast New Area, and a contest and exhibition.   

The Qingdao West Coast New Area has become a popular international photography base. It hosted the Fifth International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) Photo Meeting and the Silk Road Photographic Organization International Cooperation Summit last August. It is home to the Silk Road Photographic Organization International Alliance and its liaison office, a permanent exhibition center and a photography base. 

Multitudes of international activities have been held in the new area, such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Film Festival, the Eurochestries Festival and the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Forum, providing photographers at all levels with abundant subject matter.
