A group of reporters from 26 media agencies launched an interview tour to Bohai Ferry in Yantai, East China's Shandong province from April 16 to 18 to highlight the city's ferry industry.

Founded in 1998, the Yantai-based Bohai Ferry Co Ltd, now the nation's biggest roll-on/roll-off (RORO) transportation enterprise, has revitalized itself by riding the wave of the "blue economy."

Bohai Ferry has unique advantages in regional routes. It boasts three major shipping lines, from Yantai to Dalian Liaoning province, Penglai to Lushun, Liaoning province and Longkou to Lushun, which together constitute a "Marine Expressway".

"Yantai has unique advantages for roll-on/roll-off transportation because it shortens the shipping distance from Yantai to Dalian," said Zhan Li, the deputy manager of Bohai Ferry.

Bohai Ferry had total revenue of 1.5 billion yuan in 2017 with 734,400 vehicles transported and 2.6 million passengers carried.

The company will continue to strengthen domestic routes and develop international RORO transportation to become a comprehensive shipping group.
