International students celebrate Chinese New Year in Zibo

In a festive gathering on Jan 8, the Jinxin Garden community in Zhangdian district, Zibo, played host to a unique New Year celebration. 

International students, alongside local residents, embraced the spirit of the Chinese New Year with enthusiasm.

The morning commenced with a delightful dumpling-making session. Guided by community staff and volunteers, international students actively participated in every step, from crafting dumpling wrapper to preparing the savory fillings. The joyous atmosphere allowed them not only to master the art of making this traditional Chinese dish but also to immerse themselves in the familial ambiance of the Spring Festival.

Transitioning to the afternoon, the community transformed into a vibrant hub for New Year festivities. Adorned with colorful lights, the community became a stage for diverse cultural performances. International students, joining hands with local residents, showcased their talents in singing, dancing, and traditional Chinese opera, expressing heartfelt wishes for the New Year and aspirations for a brighter future.

The event, hosted at the Bodao community center, facilitated a rich cultural exchange. International students delved into the traditions of dumpling-making and New Year celebrations, fostering a profound understanding of Chinese cultural values. This unique experience not only enriched their knowledge but also forged deep friendships with the local community.

As Shandong's cultural influence expands globally, events like these serve as vital bridges for cross-cultural exchange.
