The much-anticipated Wenchang Lake half marathon featured 10,000 runners on April 9, as the annual event returned to Zibo city in East China's Shandong province after being suspended for three years due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The municipal government-sponsored event attracted roughly 1,000 runners from cities and provinces outside Zibo, according to the organizers.
Peter, a foreign runner from Kenya, overtook two athletes from Chongqing and Zibo city to finish first with a time of 1:8:58 in the men's half marathon, nearly two minutes ahead of the runner-up.
In the women's half marathon, the first place was won by local Tang Hui, who finished with a time of 1:20:11.
The event was widely judged to be a major success. Check out this video to see the fun.
