A delegation led by Tanzania's ambassador to China Mbelwa Kairuki kicked off a three-day visit to Zibo city, in East China's Shandong province, on March 23.
Both sides agreed on a strategic partnership between China and Tanzania – with the parties engaged in commerce, industrial projects, as well as jointly developing markets, technology and cultural tourism.
At a subsequent symposium, Shandong foreign affairs office deputy director-general Li Yongsen said the significant location advantages of Tanzania would enable the Chinese region to expand its markets into East Africa.
The visit also took in local new medicine and intelligent heavyweights and influential development zones – including Shinva, Chemball, the Zibo Comprehensive Bonded Zone, the Shandong Juming Group and Eudemon Tire Co Ltd. The delegation was shown some special local products and was given an opportunity to explore agricultural facilities on their own.
The latest figures show that over 70 medicine, new materials and equipment manufacturing enterprises in Zibo city conduct export business with Tanzania.
During the visit, 39 Tanzanian students took part in a workshop organized by the Zibo Vocational Institute and the National Institute of Transport in Tanzania.
