The Zhoucun district of Zibo city – located in East China's Shandong province – has striven for its high-quality development in a number of areas since the start of the year.
To improve its industrial quality, Zhoucun has launched 65 major projects worth nearly 31.38 billion yuan ($4.7 billion), including 14 newly introduced 100-million-yuan ones, according to statements made at a news conference on Sept 26.
There are 63 local companies based there that have grown into influential manufacturers and sci-tech firms and 119 companies have successfully listed their shares on the stock market in recent years.

In order to optimize its industrial structure, Zhoucun district has focused on the new economy – including green energy, digital agriculture and intelligent logistics – and has planned 10 related projects with an investment of more than 8.77 billion yuan.
For facilitate its further opening up, Zhoucun has invested 12.84 billion yuan on 11 projects to build a science and technology innovation corridor with Jinan, capital of Shandong.
It has also built a China-Japan industrial park, organized for 11 firms to participate in the third Qingdao Multinationals Summit, as well as promoted the district's traditional brands at the recent Lanzhou Investment & Trade Fair.
In addition, to become a better city, Zhoucun has invested some 2.76 billion yuan in 21 projects to transform itself into an area of parks, as well as 20 billion yuan on 35 projects to upgrade the city's facilities.
Waterways, roads and railway stations have been improved to form a more convenient transportation system.

Zhoucun has also transformed the energy mix from traditional sources to the utilization of clean energy such as hydrogen, solar and geothermal energy to improve the ecological quality.

A series of culture and tourism projects, as well as business ones, have been introduced to inject new vigor for the ancient Zhoucun commercial town. The town was selected as a national nighttime culture and tourism consumption cluster, as a result of the improvement of culture quality.
The local authorities also improved residents' sense of happiness and gain in 35 fields including basic security, employment income increase, education and medical care, cultural life, and public security management.
