The south building of the Zibo Railway Station opened to the public on Sept 16 and it is expected to provide a big boost to Zibo city – located in East China's Shandong province – in its push to become a modern and central city.
The floor space of the new south building is 2.6 times that of the north building and can handle up to 4,000 people at a time.
An integrated transportation system was installed, to allow fast transfers between the trains and other city transportation such as the metro, taxis, buses and passenger cars.
The south building features local culture in its design, including Qi culture and cuju culture. There are also reliefs, wall-mounted sculptures of Jiao Yulu – an inspiring civil servant, who sacrificed his life in 1964 while trying to alleviate poverty, becoming a role model for other Party members.
On the ground floor there are wall paintings depicting the story of the city's economic and cultural development and evolution.
In addition, seven LED screens have been attached to the ceiling to create a starry sky effect, while showing milestones in Zibo's history.
Let's check out the video to explore the new station building.
