A new pharmaceuticals industry high-quality development conference took place on June 30 in Zibo, in East China's Shandong province, to promote the city's Yellow River Delta Pharmaceutical Valley and its new pharmaceuticals industry.
Zibo, one of the top 10 national pharmaceuticals products export bases, has a history of nearly 80 years in the pharma sector – with a relatively complete industry ecosystem including pharmaceutical intermediates, active pharmaceutical ingredients or APIs, preparations, medical equipment and consumables.
The city has made the industry one of Zibo's four new emerging industries – together with new materials, intelligent manufacturing and the electronics information sector – and it is expected to build medical and health industrial clusters.
The Yellow River Delta Pharmaceutical Valley, located in Gaoqing county, was founded in 2017 and is developing industrial clusters for chemical pharmaceuticals preparations, APIs and biomedicines.
To date, the pharmaceutical valley has attracted 22 pharma groups to move there, including Suzhou Lixin Pharmaceutical Co Ltd and Beijing-based Dezhan Healthcare Co Ltd, according to a Gaoqing county official.
Zibo is now home to a number of influential enterprises – including SHINVA and Reyoung Pharmaceutical Co Ltd – as well as more than 50 innovation platforms at the provincial level and above and six medical industry parks.
