In recent years, Huantai county – administered by Zibo city in East China's Shandong province – has been ramping up efforts to promote its agricultural transformation and to develop new agriculture, so as to increase the incomes of locals and improve their lives.
Since 2011, Huantai has completed 28 farmland development projects, establishing a total of 245,700 mu (16,380 hectares) of high-standard farmland with an investment of 499.6 million yuan ($74.94 million).
In 2019, the county's wheat fields yielded 835.2 kilograms per mu, setting a yield record for winter wheat in China.
