The geological formation of the Kaiyuan cave, which was named during the Tang dynasty (618-907), is understood to be very complex – having been shaped by the erosion by water and carbon dioxide over a many centuries.
The cave features unique karst landforms and sinkholes, making it a hit for tourists, as well as for scores of photographers and explorers.
