The province of Shandong will hold an "autumn consumption month" from September to October in a bid to stimulate cultural and tourism consumption.

The event is part of the ongoing Fourth Shandong Culture and Tourism Consumption Season, which kicked off on April 25 and consists of a series of measures and coupons meant to boost consumption in the culture and tourism sectors, so as to offset some of the negative impacts of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

More than 200 cultural and tourism activities will be held during the autumn consumption month, according to organizers.

In addition, 10 million yuan ($1.48 million) in coupons will be offered to boost cultural and tourism consumption as National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival approach.

In order to take full advantage of the upcoming holiday travel rush, also known as "Golden Week", Shandong will help local travel agencies launch a number of tourism products to provide tourists with a diverse array of choices.

Those involved in the tourism industry are counting on the holiday to help make up for losses caused by the pandemic and have developed policies to help boost consumption.

Scenic spots across the province will launch a dazzling array of activities to attract more tourists and offer an improved travel experience.

Promotions for online sales will also be held during the upcoming National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays.

In addition, the province will host a number of activities to promote the sale of local time-honored brands and cultural and creative products.

Furthermore, Shandong's 16 cities will launch a variety of cultural and tourism activities in an effort to help restore the economy.
