The 2023 Shandong Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and High-level Talents Investment and Entrepreneurship Cooperation Week (Qingdao) kicked off on Dec 5 in Laoshan district, Qingdao.

The event attracted overseas Chinese entrepreneurs and high-level talents from 12 countries and regions including the United States, Canada, the Philippines, and the United Kingdom. They hoped to seek development opportunities in China through this event.

Xia Yong, a Chinese American, said the profound Confucianism and the inclusive mindset of China, as well as the concept of win-win cooperation, give him a sense of belonging. The safe production and living environment in China, as well as a complete industrial chain and strong development prospects, have given him full confidence. These are the main reasons why he is seeking development opportunities in China. Currently, Xia, who has been engaged in biomedical technology research, is establishing his anti-aging enzyme industry in China and has selected a location in Shandong province.

At the event, Feng Shangwei, director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People's Government, said overseas Chinese have promoted economic and technological exchanges and cooperation between various sectors and Shandong, and a number of excellent projects have been implemented.

During the opening ceremony of the event, six projects with a total investment of 920 million yuan ($128.31 million), and the Qingdao Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Union was officially unveiled.

The Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs and High-level Talents Investment and Entrepreneurship Cooperation Week has been held for 13 sessions since 2007. Its purpose is to adapt to the new situation and new needs for Chinese entrepreneurs and overseas Chinese high-level talents to return to China for development. Over the years, this event has invited more than 1,000 overseas academicians, Chinese entrepreneurs, and overseas Chinese professionals to discuss cooperation and seek development in China.
