Apricot planting boosts farmers' incomes in Qingdao
The apricot picking season recently came to a conclusion in Xiazhuang subdistrict, Chengyang district of Qingdao, Shandong province.
During the agritourism event, Xiazhuang received more than 220,000 tourists, generating a total operating income of about 23.5 million yuan ($3.25 million). Sales of apricots totaled 18.45 million yuan, the operating income of five agritainment restaurants reached about 4 million yuan, and sales of other agricultural and sideline products were about 1.05 million yuan.
The apricot picking season event has greatly boosted local farmers' incomes and promoted rural vitalization, said local officials.
