The Sino-German Arbitration Law Roundtable on "International Business Environment and International Disputes Resolution" was held both offline and online in the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Qingdao Area, or Qingdao FTZ, from June 23 to 24.
More than 100 Chinese and German experts and scholars, legal and economic practitioners and industry representatives attended the roundtable onsite or via a video link.
The roundtable focused on two major themes: "The Path of International Legal Cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative" and "Green Development and Legal Guarantee".
Attendees exchanged ideas and discussed topics including legal issues and the cross-border dispute resolution mechanism related to China-EU cross-border trade and investment, the law-based business environment and the development of free trade zones, the cross-border trade and international cooperation of carbon emission rights, and the cross-border investment and dispute resolution of green projects.
The event was co-hosted by the German Adenauer Foundation and Qingdao Arbitration Commission, and co-organized by the Center for Foreign-related Rule of Law of the Institute of International Law of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
Qingdao FTZ has been striving to foster a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment. The zone has established a one-stop law service system both offline and online.
Last year, Qingdao FTZ established the Green Development Indicator System. It gives full play to its Sino-German Ecopark to pursue a green and low-carbon development pattern.
