Xiaoyu Mountain in Shinan district, Qingdao will be closed for restoration and upgrading from March 1 to April 10, the scenic area administration said.

The upgrading project is part of the local government's efforts to improve the environment and facilities in mountainous parks in the district to offer better experience to its visitors.

The project includes renovating several pavilions and two public toilets, optimizing green landscaping and installing smart devices for fire safety and visitor flow control.

The Xiaoyu Mountain scenic area, located near the Yellow Sea's Huiquan Bay, was developed in 1984. It boasts beautiful forests on its hillsides and a diverse architecture cluster at its base.

It is the first classic-style mountainous park in Qingdao and is among the first batch of national 4A-level tourist attractions.

The scenic area has been open to the public for free since Sept 1, 2021.
