A total of 272 major projects started construction on Feb 15 in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong province.

With a total investment of over 210 billion yuan ($33.01 billion), the projects cover key industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing and next-generation information technology, as well as new energy and new materials.

These projects will cultivate new growth drivers for local high-quality development, according to local officials.

The Harbin Institute of Technology Radio Energy Transmission Technology (Qingdao) Science and Technology Innovation Park project has a planned construction area of 180,000 square meters with 3.2 billion yuan in investment. It will build the radio energy transmission products production area for underground mining equipment and new energy electric vehicles.

It is expected to achieve an annual output value of 3 billion yuan after becoming operational.

The Huawei Artificial Intelligence Computing Center project will be jointly built by Laoshan district government and Huawei, with a total investment of 379 million yuan.

When put into operation, it will provide artificial intelligence services to such industries as industrial internet, smart finance, smart manufacturing, smart home, smart medical care, smart rail transit, intelligent connected vehicles and other characteristic industries in Qingdao.
