Qingdao Port annual throughput ranks fifth in China

Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group handled 630 million tons of cargos in 2021, up 4.3 percent year-on-year, ranking fifth in China, while its container throughput was 23.71 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), up 7.8 percent, ranking fifth in the country.
Qingdao Port has been ramping up efforts to develop new routes to ensure a stable supply chain during the COVID-19 pandemic period. It has also launched measures to transform to an innovation-driven company, said Li Fengli, general manager of Shandong Port Group.
Last year, the group opened 34 routes for ship containers, among which were 25 designed for international trade. Cumulative shipping routes also reached 317, according to Li.
