Qingdao adds SOE to advance marine industry
Qingdao Guoshi Technology Group Co has been listed as a locally administered State-owned enterprise (SOE) after transforming itself into an innovative enterprise group that primarily focuses on marine-related industries.
A promotional event for the company was held during the annual Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (QNLM) academic conference on Jan 14.

During the promotional event, the company released the results of three major business plans, signed strategic cooperation agreements with eight counterparts and research institutes, and invited four experts to give reports on the marine science and technology industry.
Lyu Peng, director of the Qingdao municipal science and technology bureau, said that Qingdao is one of the most advantageous places to study the marine environment and conduct scientific research in the country, and the city has a very strong foundation of research and development of ocean observation and exploration, information big data, marine life, physical oceanography and other fields.

Lyu noted that the establishment of Guoshi Group will help transform the achievements of the QNLM and other universities and research institutes into productive forces and support the innovation-driven development of Qingdao's marine industry.
Wang Zaiyi, executive deputy director of QNLM, said that Guoshi Group will gradually form a system of transformation, incubation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements under the guidance of the government, industries, universities and research institutes.
Wang added that Guoshi Group will also become an innovative science and technology enterprise with the ocean as its prominent feature, and will make greater contributions to the high-quality development of the city's marine economy and its efforts of building a global city ocean center.
