Jining city in Shandong province saw remarkable growth in its foreign trade in the first three quarters of this year.

According to government officials, the total value of Jining's foreign trade import and export was 76.76 billion yuan ($10.49 billion) during this period, a significant increase of 44 percent year-on-year. This growth rate has made the city the top performer in the province.

Exports accounted for 63.17 billion yuan, a remarkable increase of 63.8 percent, while imports amounted to 13.59 billion yuan, a slight decrease of 7.8 percent.

In the first, second, and third quarters of this year, the import and export values of the city were 17.79 billion yuan, 25.04 billion yuan and 33.93 billion yuan respectively. Notably, import and export values in the third quarter saw a significant 76.4 percent year-on-year increase.

The number of foreign trade enterprises with import and export records in Jining exceeded 2,000 in the first three quarters to reach a total of 2,007 for the first time in the city's history. This was a significant year-on-year increase of 14.9 percent.
