Twenty-two major scenic spots in Jining, East China's Shandong province received 707,400 visits during the past Spring Festival holiday, representing an increase of 55.32 percent from the same period in 2021, according to the city's culture and tourism authority.

The combined revenue was 18.01 million yuan ($2.83 million), an increase of 75.16 percent year-on-year.

During the seven-day holiday, these scenic spots hosted a slew of characteristic activities such as traditional Chinese New Year celebrations at the Three Confucius Sites, as well as unmanned drones light shows and folk cultural performances at the Nishan Sacred Land to offer tourists a unique travel experience.

Many scenic spots offered special ticket promotions to attract tourists. For example, the Nishan Sacred Land has been offering free tickets from Jan 31 to Feb 15 to tourists who were born in Tiger Years, since the 2022 Lunar New Year is the Year of the Tiger. Weishan Lake scenic area was open free of charge to the public during the first three days of the holiday.

In addition, 236 cultural activities such as reading salons, Spring Festival couplets exhibitions and intangible cultural heritage exhibitions were held across the city to enrich local residents' holiday experiences. Public cultural venues were also open to the public free of charge during the holiday.

To ensure the health and safety of visitors, all scenic areas, public cultural venues, theaters and entertainment venues have been required to take strict epidemic prevention and control measures, including limiting the number of visitors, conducting regular disinfections, guiding visitors to register their personal information on relevant applications, and enforcing temperature checks and making sure all visitors are wearing a mask.
