The travel rush, the largest human migration in the world, also known as chunyun, started on Jan 17 and will end on Feb 25.

Considering the sporadic COVID-19 outbreaks nationwide, the transport sector in Jining, East China's Shandong province has ensured service quality for the 40-day travel rush to make travel easier and will maintain a high-level of enforcing epidemic control protocols such as disinfecting vehicles and terminals regularly.

The Jining North Bus Station disinfects the indoor areas four times a day and takes environmental samples of service facilities including chairs, curtains, gates, security checkpoints every two days, said Wang Liang, deputy director of the station.

The city's bus operator also said that Jining has suspended all bus routes to medium and high-risk COVID-19 areas, and suggested that passengers heading to low-risk areas prepare their QR health codes, digital travel records and negative nucleic acid results taken within  48 hours ahead of their trips.

It is the first travel rush that the Jining North Railway Station has experienced since it starting operation in late December 2021. The station is expected to have a throughput of 70,000 passengers during this year's travel rush.

To guarantee smooth operations for everybody, the station has introduced one-stop services such as "green channels" and special waiting rooms for elderly passengers and other groups that need special assistance during their trips.
