A new high-speed railway section connecting Qufu in Jining and Heze was put into operation on Dec 26, marking the completion of Rizhao-Lankao High-speed Railway, which runs between Shandong's Rizhao city and Lankao in Henan province, with a designed operating speed of 350 kilometer per hour.

The Jining-section of the Rizhao-Lankao High-speed Railway spans 123 km, and runs through Sishui county, Qufu city, Yanzhou district, Rencheng district, Wenshang county, the Jining Economic and Technological Development Zone and Jiaxiang county.

It is the longest transportation project in Jining and received the largest total investment, which is expected to benefit people in the areas greatly.

The section between Qufu and Linyi started operating on Nov 26, 2019 with two stops – Sishui South Station and Qufu East Station – in Jining, and the newly opened section has four stops in the city, involving Qufu South Station, Jining East Station, Jining North Station and Jiaxiang North Station.

The fastest train takes only 54 minutes from Jining to the provincial capital Jinan, and the trip to Beijing takes two hours and 35 minutes.

The new line will enhance the transport interconnectivity between the southern part of Shandong and central China as well as greatly facilitate travelers along the route.

The project is of massive significance for promoting regional economic and social development, the China Railway Jinan Group Co released in a statement.
