A total of 105 major projects were initiated in Jining, East China's Shandong province on July 20, which are expected to inject fresh momentum into the city's high-quality development.

With 47.7 billion yuan ($7.37 billion) in investment, the projects involve a variety of sectors, such as the high-end equipment, new materials, new energy, healthcare, and chemicals industries, said Lin Hongyu, Party secretary of Jining, at a ceremony held in Wenshang county to mark the beginning of the construction of the projects.

Lin added that the projects, which use high technologies and have strong market prospects, will play an important part in optimizing Jining's economic structure, as well as upgrade its industries.

Shandong Wenhua Perfume Co, which is located in Wenshang county's chemical industrial park, is one of the projects. With a total of 1.5 billion yuan in investment from Jiaxing Zhonghua Chemical Co, the company is expected to produce 13,000 tons of vanillin every year, enabling it to rank among the world's largest vanillin production bases. The project is expected to generate 2 billion yuan of sales within three years after completion.

Another project in Zoucheng, a county-level city in Jining, is expected to produce 500,000 tons of ethanol every year, generating 5 billion yuan in annual sales, according to Du Hanshuang, chief engineer of the project. Du added that the project will utilize resources in a green and highly effective way.
