Jining National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, which is located in Jining, East China's Shandong province, has been working strenuously to improve its "new infrastructure" to support the sustainable development of local companies and to upgrade the zone's industrial structure.
The term "new infrastructure" refers to facilities that are needed for high-tech industries, such as 5G communications, artificial intelligence, and big data.
In 2020, a total of 29 "new infrastructure" projects were initiated in the zone. The projects, which received 18.9 billion yuan ($2.95 billion) in investment, include many semiconductors and new materials projects. An intelligent terminals industrial park is currently under construction in the zone and is expected to attract more companies involved in the sector.
The Jining high-tech zone invested 180 million yuan in total last year and set up more than 500 5G stations, which are able to cover its major industrial parks and commercial districts, as well as provide residents with fast and convenient communication services.
A group of leading industrial internet suppliers, such as Huawei, Siemens, and Alibaba Cloud, has been introduced in the zone to promote the wide application of cloud computing in local companies' production and management.
In addition, the Jining high-tech zone invested 250 million yuan in building a high-voltage and smart grid, with the aim of meeting its companies' needs for electricity. It also plans to establish 1,100 charging stations for electric vehicles.
