Jining builds a smart warehouse to boost e-commerce industry
The first JD Smart Warehouse in Jining, East China's Shandong province started operation on March 31. The warehouse is expected to provide effective logistics services to e-commerce companies and promote the sector's high-quality development.
Co-founded by Jining Transportation Group and Jingdong Logistics, which is a subsidiary of the e-commerce giant JD, the smart warehouse is the first one of its kind in Southwest Shandong. It now covers 3,000 square meters and consists of different zones for picking, packing, offices, as well as other work. Another 35,000 square meters of the warehouse is currently under construction.
The warehouse can increase the efficiency of goods distribution and save shipping costs for e-commerce companies, as well as strengthen their competitiveness.
The warehouse's management system uses big data technology to provide more effective and convenient services, according to an employee at the warehouse. It would take no more than three minutes to finish the whole delivery process. Orders that are placed by 5 pm can be delivered within the same day.
Dozens of local companies have moved in the warehouse, said Chen Yanchun, deputy director of Jining Transportation Group.
