Jining city is an important industrial center in Shandong province, with a complete industrial system. It has formed five major industrial clusters - coal-based power and chemicals, machinery manufacturing, biotechnology, food and medicine, and textiles and garments.
Jining is a national new energy base, a national large-scale coal chemical industry base, a national biotechnology industry base, a national engineering machinery industry base, a national textile new materials industry base, and a national specific vehicle production base. Among these, two industries' scale exceeded 100 billion yuan ($15.27 billion) and five exceeded 50 billion yuan in size.
A number of key enterprises, such as Yankuang Group, Ruyi Group, Huaqin Group, Sun Paper and Shantui, have maintained their leading positions in their industries in China. Many of the world's top 500 and domestic top 500 companies have settled in Jining, such as AGCO and Eaton from the United States, BASF and Continental AG from Germany, Pirelli from Italy, Komatsu from Japan, and China’s Huawei and ZTE.
Two enterprises in Jining have been included in the top 100 multinational companies in China, four enterprises have been listed in the top 500 Chinese enterprises and five have been ranked in the top 100 private enterprises in Shandong province.
Jining is promoting the transformation and development of resource-based cities, speeding up the transformation from old development drivers to new ones, accelerating its progress from a large industrial city to a strong manufacturing city, and creating a modern industrial new city.
