New growth drivers emerging in the Jining Economic and Technological Development Zone
A delegation visited the Jining Economic and Technological Development Zone on Dec 10 to learn about the progress of its kinetic energy projects.
The High-end Equipment Industrial Cluster Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Equipment Base, located in the Jining Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Industrial Park, focuses on the R&D of energy conservation and environmental protection-related technology and equipment. It has received over 3 billion yuan ($459.4 million) in investment and will consist of 300,000-square-meter plants for R&D, incubation, and production. It is expected to develop a billion-dollar high-end equipment industrial cluster within five years.
The park has already introduced over 100 high-level talented personnel, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, experts of the Thousand Talent Plan, and over 20 PhD holders. Institutions moving into the park include four provincial-level R&D platforms, including an industrial sewage recycling engineering lab, an entrepreneurial technology center, a post-doctoral innovative practice base, and an environmental protection equipment research institute, as well as 15 energy conservation and environmental protection equipment manufacturers generating 3 billion yuan in annual sales.

The Zhongbei Runliang (Xiaolu Battery) Lithium-ion Battery project has received 3 billion yuan in investment and has completed its first stage, which cost 1 billion yuan, and invested 300 million yuan in its second stage, which includes the construction of a 15,000-square-meter dust-free plant and the introduction of 100 intelligent manufacturing equipment plants. Its daily production capacity has increased from 100,000 lithium ion batteries to 200,000 and its annual output target is 2.6 billion yuan. This new-type battery requires 50 percent less production materials than traditional batteries, and production efficiency is 40 percent higher. The battery rivals products from leading global battery manufacturers, including BYD and LG. The battery can be applied in fields such as new energy vehicles, 5G base stations, and high-end digital devices.
