This year, Dongying has been actively developing and utilizing renewable energy, including wind, solar, and biomass, while accelerating large-scale energy storage deployment and establishing zero-carbon industrial parks.

As of the end of October, the city's renewable energy installed capacity reached 10.09 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 43.95 percent, representing 67.45 percent of the total installed capacity. This includes 6.77 million kW of solar power, 3.11 million kW of wind power, and 0.21 million kW of biomass.

From January to October, renewable energy generated 11.41 billion kWh, up 20.86 percent from the previous year, accounting for 43.19 percent of total power generation and 30.66 percent of electricity consumption — providing significant green energy support for urban development.
Project development remains a critical driver of industrial growth. Dongying is advancing 38 new energy generation and equipment manufacturing projects, with planned investment totaling 15 billion yuan ($2.12 billion) this year. In March, the city signed a strategic cooperation agreement with CATL, integrating investment promotion with industrial value chain development.
Focusing on key areas such as lithium batteries, wind power, and hydrogen energy, Dongying is creating a comprehensive green manufacturing hub for lithium batteries with an annual output exceeding 100 billion yuan. The city is also fostering a diversified and collaborative industrial ecosystem by attracting leading enterprises in wind power equipment and promoting integrated green electricity and hydrogen applications in heavy chemical parks.
Dongying will continue to strengthen the renewable energy industrial value chain, enhance innovation capabilities, cultivate talent, and build a sustainable, high-quality green industry cluster.
