The 100,000-ton general berth at Dongying Port handled its first foreign trade voyage on Aug 16, bringing Dongying, a city in East China's Shandong province, one step closer to becoming a national main port and a key energy-guarantee hub.

Dongying has long regarded its port as a strategic asset, driving openness and development. The city has actively promoted the port's growth by enhancing its capabilities, streamlining logistics, and deepening the integration of the port with local industries and urban development.

Dongying Port has achieved several major milestones: it now has 63 productive berths, a completed 250,000-metric ton single-point mooring facility, six 5,000-ton and two 10,000-ton berths at Guangli Port, and Shandong province's first dedicated large-scale wind power terminal.

In the first half of 2025, the port's throughput reached 45.95 million tons, marking a 17.64 percent increase compared with the same period last year.

The port has also steadily enhanced its multimodal transport infrastructure, constructing 49 kilometers of public utility corridors, laying nearly 300 kilometers of crude and refined oil pipelines, and providing 22 million cubic meters of storage to support efficient pipeline cargo handling.

Meanwhile, the Dongying Economic and Technological Development Zone is leveraging its port and dock advantages to attract wind power enterprises, skilled professionals, and innovative technologies. The zone aims to build a comprehensive offshore wind power equipment industry base and a 100-billion-yuan ($14 billion) offshore wind power equipment cluster.
