As the Spring Festival holiday came to a close, officials in Dongying city – located in East China's Shandong province – were able to report some truly impressive results.
A total of 18 monitored scenic areas in the city welcomed 1.08 million visitors, generating a revenue of 50.34 million yuan ($6.91 million) – reflecting year-on-year increases of 14.11 percent and 15.86 percent, respectively.
In early December, the city's culture and tourism bureau unveiled over 1,000 activities to ring in Chinese New Year.
The Chengnan Temple Fair in Liuhu Town featured Yingge dance and puppet shows, while Bailu Garden offered an innovative blend of lantern displays and song concerts. These two key venues attracted 302,400 and 98,000 visitors, marking year-on-year increases of 60.1 percent and 56.8 percent, respectively.
Other areas – including the Yellow River Estuary Ecological Scenic Area, the Yellow River Delta Zoo and the Sun Tzu Cultural Park – all achieved new milestones in visitor numbers compared with the same period last year.
Public cultural venues also hosted activities like traditional cultural games and exhibitions, drawing large crowds. In total, the venues welcomed a combined 85,000 visitors, representing a 67 percent year-on-year increase.

Smooth holidays rely on the support and protection of dedicated law enforcement personnel. During the break, 224 law enforcement officers from the city's culture and tourism departments inspected 230 cultural and tourism businesses and venues, uncovering and resolving 71 safety hazards.
Dongying's Spring Festival events saw great success, with increased visitors and revenue. The city's vibrant cultural activities and strong safety measures contributed to an incident-free holiday, setting the stage for continued growth in its tourism and cultural sectors.
