The carnival aims to meet the growing demand for travel during Spring Festival, improve tourism offerings and boost the overall market.
It's in line with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's initiative and Shandong's wider tourist campaign.
The opening featured a vibrant dance performance, followed by cultural tourism ambassadors who presented festive activities. Dongying has prepared over 1,000 events across five themed series – inviting visitors to experience a rich, gastronomically flavorful and truly memorable Chinese New Year.
As night fell, more than 20 themed lantern displays illuminated Bailu Garden, marking the official launch of the carnival. Traditional performances like the dragon dance and datiehua or strike iron flower added to the festive spirit, bringing the celebration to its peak.
