The Dongying Vocational Institute located in Dongying, East China's Shandong province, recently celebrated a significant achievement at the 2024 World Vocational College Skills Competition finals – where its multinational team earned a bronze medal in the equipment manufacturing category.
The event, which gathered 1,279 participants from 73 countries and regions, and displayed the best of global vocational skills and the success of the college, is said to highlight the exceptional abilities of its students and the strength of its international collaborations.
The team, composed of three international students – alongside Ooi Wen Je from Malaysia's SEGi University – competed against strong contenders in a highly competitive field.
Their accomplishment is regarded as having not only elevated the college's reputation, but also demonstrated the global caliber of its training programs.
Dongying Vocational Institute has already earned three bronze medals at the world skills competition finals, two awards at the BRICS Skills Competition and 23 honors at the Belt and Road Initiative and BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition. These achievements are viewed as underscoring the college's focus on skills excellence and international engagement.
Looking ahead, Dongying Vocational Institute is expected to continue to emphasize the importance of competition in driving learning, teaching and innovation.
By strengthening educational reforms and fostering international collaboration, the college aims to cultivate more highly skilled professionals with global competitiveness.
