Shandong, the only province which lies at the confluence of the Yellow River and the sea, is making significant strides in advancing ecological protection and high-quality development.

The region is gradually creating a new landscape where people and nature thrive together, and industrial development continues to grow in terms of both stability and quality.

At the Yellow River Delta National Nature Reserve in Dongying, the migratory bird season is in full swing. Over 1,600 species of wildlife inhabit the area, including endangered species like the oriental white stork, which successfully bred 202 nests this year. The arrival of the birds is a testament to the reserve's strong focus on environmental restoration.

Zhou Licheng, head of the reserve's planning and construction department, shared that in recent years, the reserve has added over 530 million cubic meters of ecological water and restored around 3,400 hectares of saline-alkali land.

"What was once barren, salt-crusted land has since become a lush wetland, rich in biodiversity," he said.

In terms of industrial transformation, a new energy vehicle industry chain is gradually emerging along the northern bank of the Yellow River. The rapid development of BYD's new energy passenger vehicle project in Jinan's Start-up Area for Growth Drivers Transformation has attracted nearly 400 upstream and downstream businesses, forming a complete industrial ecosystem ranging from parts supply to vehicle manufacturing.

Culturally, the ancient Three Confucian Sites in Jining have been revitalized through the fusion of history and modern technology. This transformation breathes new vitality into the region, highlighting the deep historical connection between the river and the culture it has shaped.
