Dongying taps into the unique resources of the Yellow River Delta to create high-quality, distinctive agricultural products.

At a recent event in Beijing, the "Remarkable Shandong" agricultural product promotional conference displayed over 300 products from the Yellow River Delta, which included rice, hairy crabs, Tan sheep, and sea cucumbers. Many visitors were attracted to Dongying's booth, eager to learn more about these local specialties.

The Yellow River carries nutrient-rich organic matter that has shaped Dongying's unique natural environment, ideal for producing these unique agricultural products from salt-alkali land.

Dongying has developed the nation's largest Tan sheep processing facility, with a capacity of one million sheep. The city also hosts six large-scale dairy farms, with an average of 11.7 metric tons of milk per cow, as well as vast aquaculture operations, including 6,000 hectares for hairy crabs, 11,000 hectares for sea cucumbers and 27,000 hectares for shrimp. Dongying is also working to establish national-level industrial clusters for soybeans, livestock, and fisheries, each worth billions.

To make the most of these unique products, Dongying has partnered with universities and research institutions to develop value-added items like germinated rice, prepared foods, and functional foods. This has boosted the market competitiveness of "Yellow River Delta bran" agricultural products.

Looking ahead, Dongying will continue to strengthen its agricultural brands, explore its strengths, and foster more regional agricultural brands. The goal is for Yellow River Delta agricultural products to become a symbol of the city's high-quality offerings and pave the way for farming on salt-alkali land.
