In late autumn the Shuangfu Flower Base – located in Niuzhuang town, in Dongying city, in East China's Shandong province – showcased a vibrant display of blooming anthuriums and orchids, creating a stunning floral scene.

While outdoor temperatures dropped, the greenhouse is said to feel like a spring oasis, thanks to its advanced temperature controls system.
This combines geothermal energy with Internet of Things or IoT technology to maintain a stable and pleasant temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius, providing ideal growing conditions for the flowers.
Zhang Yingzhi, technical manager of Dongying Shuangfu Fusheng Agricultural Development Co Ltd, said the company operates three production bases – specializing in high-end flowers like miniature roses, orchids, anthuriums and calatheas.
What's more, the company collaborates with renowned suppliers like Anthura and Diruite from the Netherlands – with products reaching major cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, as well as international markets.
Outside the greenhouse, heating pipelines deliver geothermal energy, ensuring a consistent source of warmth for the flowers.
"We've integrated advanced IoT technology to create an efficient climate control system that maintains a stable winter temperature of about 25 C, using 60 C heating return water,"Zhang added.
Driven by technology, Niuzhuang town has explored diverse applications of its geothermal energy, supporting the green development of enterprises like Shuangfu Flower. The success is said to enhance the competitiveness of the floral industry and sets a benchmark for geothermal energy use in the region, contributing to rural vitalization.
