The 2024 Conference on Comprehensive Utilization Technology Innovation for Saline-Alkaline Land took place on Oct 19 at the Academic Exchange Center in the Yellow River Delta Agricultural High-Tech Zone – located in Dongying city, in East China's Shandong province.
The event featured the launch of a saline-alkaline land comprehensive utilization technology demonstration project – along with the release of development reports on saline-alkaline land utilization technologies and the Yellow River Delta rice industry.
Yang Guoqiang, Party secretary of Dongying, said his city had focused on creating a hub for saline-alkaline land seed innovation and a model zone for comprehensive utilization.
He pointed out that with the Yellow River Delta Agricultural High-Tech Zone as a key base, the city has mobilized its efforts to tackle core technologies. This had resulted in significant progress in the saline-alkaline land seed industry and successful pilots for the comprehensive utilization of arable land reserves.
Looking ahead, plans are for the city to strengthen its collaborations with experts, research teams and innovative enterprises. The aim is to promote the high-quality development of modern agriculture on saline-alkaline land – contributing to national food security and ensuring a stable food supply for China.
The conference was said to represent a significant step towards advancing the sustainable development of saline-alkaline land – showcasing Dongying's commitment to innovation and collaboration for a prosperous agricultural future.
