As October progresses, Dongying is experiencing a promising autumn harvest.
Harvesting grains began on Oct 5, with overall progress reaching 34.6 percent by the next day. Corn harvesting is 44 percent complete, while the strip intercropping of soybeans and corn stands at 18.9 percent.
A farmer of the agricultural cooperative in Guangrao county said that they have leased 60 hectares of land, with some areas solely corn and others strip intercropping. Approximately 13.33 hectares of corn have already been harvested.
Recent assessments by the county's agricultural department indicate an average yield of 818 kilograms per 0.067 hectare.
Despite challenges posed by drought during summer planting, subsequent rains have benefitted the crops. "The light rainfall in Huaguan town, combined with timely manual management, has resulted in minimal impact," he said. Overall, this year's autumn harvest is on track to meet expectations similar to those of previous years.
To ensure a successful autumn harvest, Dongying has mobilized 33,000 of agricultural machinery and stockpiled over 21,000 machine parts. The city has also established 34 emergency service teams to provide immediate support for harvesting and respond effectively to extreme weather conditions.
Furthermore, 110 grain dry with a collective daily drying capacity of 16,400 metric tons have been prepared to meet the demands for grain drying.
