Nestled at the mouth of the Yellow River, this historical street celebrates various intangible cultural heritages, including papercutting, yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer) music, and the Yellow River Tamper Chant (a traditional work song sung by laborers).
Lijin county has developed this cultural hub to feature 21 shops and 80 stalls dedicated to intangible cultural heritage. Every weekend and holiday, the market featuring the Yellow River culture attracts a growing number of visitors, including adventurous students and young people.
At the hands-on young visitors had the chance to make their own creations by pounding, cutting, and kneading Yellow River clay into figurines, toys, teacups, and seals, all of which could be collected after firing in three to five days.
At folk performance of the Yellow River Tamper Chant, dressed in straw hats, coarse cloth garments, and cloth shoes worked in unison to a stone tamper and slam it into the ground.
