In July of this year, Dongying's Yellow River Delta Bird Habitat in Shandong achieved World Heritage status.
Capitalizing on this milestone, Dongying has committed itself to promoting harmony between humans and nature, stepping up efforts in wetland ecological restoration and setting a benchmark for ecological protection in the Yellow River basin.
The Yellow River Delta Nature Reserve has been enhancing its ecological restoration initiatives, which are vital for safeguarding the bird habitat.
"We are implementing an integrated strategy that combines land and sea management, resulting in three effective models for different wetland types," said a staff member at the reserve.
To monitor and protect biodiversity, the reserve has established over 200 video monitoring sites and deployed advanced drone and infrared camera systems, significantly improving its management capabilities.
Dongying aims to leverage its World Heritage designation to strengthen ecological protection and wetland management, enhancing ecological functions and promoting the integration of its ecological brand with the development of the Yellow River Delta National Park. By doing so, it hopes to create a distinctive eco-city model for high-quality development in the region.
