A cultural and artistic delegation of 24 members from Samcheok, South Korea, visited Dongying, Shandong province, from May 20 to 24 to participate in the 17th China-South Korea (Dongying-Samcheok) Cultural and Artistic Exchange Event.
During the event, both parties engaged in a variety of rich and exciting activities, including cultural performances, discussions and explorations, which deepened their mutual understanding and friendship.
On May 21, the two cities presented a splendid evening show. Conducted by Samcheok artists, performances included traditional South Korean dance, folk songs, and saxophone and orchestral music, allowed Dongying residents to experience South Korean culture up close. Dongying artists, meanwhile, showcased traditional Chinese cultural arts such as the Jingyun drum, excerpts from Lyu Opera and Chinese folk songs.
Cultural and artistic departments and art troupe leaders from both cities also held in-depth discussions on May 22, expressing multiple intentions to cooperate.
The delegation visited various locations, including Kenli district, Guangrao county and the Yellow River estuary, to explore the development of the agricultural tourism integration industry, Sun Tzu culture and Yellow River culture. They also engaged in calligraphy, painting and performance exchanges with artists from Kenli and Guangrao.
Since Dongying and Samcheok established an international sister city relationship in March 1999, they have conducted various exchange activities in fields such as economy, trade, culture, tourism, healthcare and sports.
In the future, Dongying will continue to promote such activities and explore new operational models and exchange projects in an effort to enhance the city's international reputation and image.
