Established in October 2015 and officially launched in November 2016, the Agricultural High-Tech Industrial Demonstration Area of the Yellow River Delta of Shandong Province, located in Dongying, is a national-level development zone.
It is the second national-level agricultural high-tech area approved by the State Council, covering a total area of 350 sq km, with a coastline of stretching 12.4 kilometers.
Its strategic mission is to comprehensively utilize saline-alkali land, aiming to create an innovative hub for the comprehensive utilization of saline-alkali land that leads the nation and has a global influence. It plans to construct four functional areas: An agricultural science and technology innovation zone, a coastal industrial zone, a science and technology-supported model area for rural vitalization and a marine ecological conservation area.
The demonstration area focuses on incubating and cultivating five major saline-alkali land characteristic industries: A specialized seeds sector, a health and functional food sector, intelligent equipment manufacturing, biotechnology and manufacturing, and an agricultural science and technology service industry.
It is actively promoting the transformation of old growth drivers into new ones and is vigorously developing new energy, new materials and other industries.
