Dongying boasts rich resources, green spaces, convenient transportation

Dongying city in East China's Shandong province is an eco-friendly, livable, convenient city with rich natural resources.

Healthy ecosystem, environment

Dongying has around 4,567 square kilometers of wetland with a coverage rate of 41.58 percent. It boasts 1,530 sq km of national nature reserves in the Yellow River Delta, as well as five national marine reserves. The country's first land-sea coordinated national park - the Yellow River Estuary National Park - is situated in Dongying.

More than 43 percent of the urban area of Dongying is now covered by trees and grass, with the per capita green park area at 26.25 square meters. With an urbanization rate of 71.45 percent, the city has been honored with the China Habitat Environment Award.

Natural resources

As the main production area of the Shengli Oilfield, Dongying is responsible for 85 percent of the oilfield's production and 80 percent of its petroleum reserves. It is also an important production area of the Bohai Oilfield, with 20 percent of the crude oil reserves, 33 percent of the natural gas reserves and 16 percent of the crude oil production concentrated along its coast.

The city has nearly 3 million mu (200,000 hectares) of unused land, with rock salt reserves of 109.7 billion metric tons, brine reserves of around 1.2 billion cubic meters, geothermal reserves of 344.7 billion cu m, a coastline stretching 463 kilometers and nearly 6,000 sq km of tidal flats and shallow seas. The city has a one-time water storage capacity of 1 billion cubic meters.

Convenient transportation

As an important node city for the coastal high-speed rail corridor and the auxiliary corridor of the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway, on completion it will take less than two hours to reach Beijing and less than four hours to reach Shanghai from Dongying. It will also take less than one hour to reach Jinan and Qingdao in Shandong province.

Dongying Port is a first-class national port with 61 berths, including 24 that can handle over 10,000-ton vessels, making it the largest port for oil and liquid chemical products in the Bohai Sea region.
