Located in Dongying city, in East China's Shandong province, the Dongying Vocational College of Science and Technology is a full-time higher vocational college approved by the provincial government and registered with the Ministry of Education of China.
Covering an area of more than 1,000 mu (67 hectares), the college has over 15,000 students who are taking 41 majors of seven secondary colleges. Its discipline settings are aligned with the need for ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin and high-quality development of industries – coupled with the demand for talent from Shandong's top 10 industries that are promoting the transformation from old to new economic growth drivers.
What's more, the college has formed a discipline structure with modern chemicals engineering, intelligent manufacturing of rubber tires and the new generation of information technology as its competitive and specialized majors.
Other disciplines – such as science, engineering, culture, commerce and education – are also undergoing coordinated development.
On top of that, the college boasts two provincial high-level discipline groups, one provincial brand group, one provincial modern apprenticeship pilot project and 20 provincial boutique courses. A particular source of pride is that its invention patents have put it among the top 100 vocational colleges in China.
The college has operated 27 platforms involving industry, academia and research and cooperated with more than 160 companies. A training base for industry-education integration built by the college and a number of enterprises – involving cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence – has been identified as a provincial public base for the transformation from old to new economic growth drivers.
