The West Coast New Area branch is a comprehensive hospital co-constructed by the Qingdao municipal government, the Huangdao district government and the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University.
Starting construction in October 2008 and put into service in May 2011, the hospital was rated as a national 3A-grade hospital in April 2013.
The first phase of the West Coast New Area branch has a floor space of 210,000 square meters. The second phase – Qingdao West Coast Tumour Hospital – will be built on a site covering some 5 hectares and cost 2.3 billion yuan ($338.8 million).
