This year's two sessions - China's most important annual political event - are currently underway in Beijing.

The third plenary session of the 13th National People's Congress, the country's top legislature, kicked off on May 22, while the third plenary session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the nation's top political advisory body, started on May 21.

Much is expected of this year's two sessions, as the country's goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects is expected to be achieved by the end of this year, which is also the final year of the country's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20).
