Weifang, known as the World Kite Capital, made a big impact at the 2025 Las Vegas World Kite Festival, held from Nov 28 to 29. The city's delegation, led by craft inheritors Guo Hongli and Zhang Huagang, showed its rich kite culture and exquisite craftsmanship to a global audience.

The event, organized by All On Culture — a Las Vegas-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting international cultural exchange — was themed "Love in the sky" and attracted top kite teams from the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Italy, Brazil, Canada, China, and the United States.

Weifang's kites quickly became a highlight, notably the luminous dragon-headed centipede and detailed panda kites, which drew large crowds eager to take photos.s

In addition to flying these impressive designs, the Weifang delegation provided live demonstrations of traditional kite-making skills, allowing international audiences to engage directly with Weifang's cultural traditions through hands-on activities.

Lebon Xu, organizer of the Kite Festival, noted that the Weifang delegation's exceptional performance made a lasting impression on attendees. He emphasized that the event laid a strong foundation for Weifang's kite culture to be shared and celebrated in Las Vegas, a global exhibition hub.

Weifang's active participation in international events like this not only helps preserve traditional kite-making techniques but also promotes Chinese culture globally. This year alone, Weifang has taken its kites to over 30 cities worldwide, participating in nearly 100 cultural exchange and heritage display events. These global efforts underscore Weifang's ongoing mission to share its artistic legacy and strengthen cross-cultural dialogue.
