Diversifying employment for women of childbearing age

Lei Jie, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and a long-time advocate for women's rights and population development, calls for enhanced employment support for women of childbearing age.

She suggests issuing policies to improve job security for such women, sharing the costs of maternity leave, and expanding job options. In addition, employers are encouraged to offer more suitable positions through flexible working hours and remote work.

Protecting the rights of workers in new employment forms

Emerging technologies and innovative management have led to new employment forms. In 2023, China had around 200 million flexible workers.

"The number of such workers is ever-increasing, and new approaches need to be adopted to protect their rights," said Zhang Le, professor at the School of Political Science and Public Administration, Shandong University. He suggests implementing local policies and encouraging both large platforms and SMEs to protect these workers' rights.
