Shandong kicks off winter sports fun

Print PrintA winter carnival kicked off on Dec 31 at the Shandong Nanshan International Ski Resort in Longkou, Yantai, Shandong province, aiming to boost the development of the entire winter industry, including culture, equipment, and tourism. This marks the official start of the month-long celebration of winter sports across the province. The event sought to introduce more people to winter sports and foster a love for winter activities.

The event featured a knowledge popularization zone where visitors could learn about the history, mascots, and events of the Olympic Winter Games and Asian Winter Games through various forms of text, images, and physical exhibits. Visitors also gained a comprehensive understanding of ice sports such as speed skating, figure skating, and snowboarding, including techniques, rules, and safety precautions.
A winter sports experience zone was set up with various simulation equipment, allowing visitors to try their hand at different winter activities. Professional coaches provided supervision on basic movements and methods, enhancing the fun and engagement of the exhibition.
A winter equipment exhibition displayed renowned brands like TERROR and LUCKYBOO, as well as professional sports photography and videography equipment from Shenzhen-based drone manufacturer DJI, and local specialties like Longkou fensi (vermicelli made from bean starch).
The occasion also organized numerous competitions such as winter orienteering, snow frisbee, and snowboarding and skiing, allowing winter sports enthusiasts to fully immerse themselves in the fun of winter sports.
Also, the event launched its winter mascot IP image and included winter equipment fashion shows, as well as interactive zones such as snow bonfires and snow camping, attracting numerous visitors to take photos.
