The intelligent shield equipment developed by Shandong University was selected as one of the world's top 10 scientific and technological advances in intelligent manufacturing at the 2024 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference on Dec 20.

The intelligent shield equipment, developed by the university's School of Qilu Transportation, has been used in the construction of over 20 major projects both domestically and internationally, including the Jinan metro project, the Yellow River Huanggang road tunnel project in Jinan, the Guiyang metro project, the second Jiaozhou Bay undersea tunnel project in Qingdao, and the CR105 tunnel project in Singapore.

The school is prioritizing intelligent manufacturing as a catalyst for advancing transportation infrastructure, aiming to drive technological innovation and enhance the practical application of equipment in shield tunneling and transportation.

The World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference has been held for eight consecutive years, attracting nearly 3,000 guests from over 20 countries and regions. It aims to advance the promotion and application of various world-leading technologies.
